Project Summary

Wanting to raise the standard in the Central Illinois senior housing market, Related Midwest asked Bailey Edward to re-envision the look and feel of the Phoenix Towers complex. The 12-story senior living facility, which houses 158 one-bedroom low-income apartments, received both interior and exterior renovations. Special attention was directed towards the common areas where a new fitness room and computer room were created as part of the contemporary living experience. The group kitchen and community room were re-imagined to create multiple modes of social engagement. Other interior renovations included bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, corridors, as well as converting 30 units to meet accessibility requirements. Exterior renovations included replacing all windows, painting and expanding the exterior in order to provide the residences with a relaxing outdoor oasis. Other work included minor fire alarm systems upgrades, new air handling units and HVAC systems.
