Business Development Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
One of the leading Chicagoland Architecture and Engineering Firms, Bailey Edward, is looking for a responsive Business Development Manager to become a part of a collaborative, high-energy studio where professional growth and client satisfaction are emphasized. The successful Candidate must have a passion for creating innovative solutions with a desire to grow and maintain Client relationships.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Business Development Manager (BDM), under the general direction of the firm’s principals, is responsible for the planning, development and execution of a variety of business development initiatives across the firm including Client Relations and Marketing. In addition, the Business Development Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the Business Development department and supervises the Marketing Coordinators and/or Marketing Assistants.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Establish programs to accomplish business development -related aspects of the corporate mission
- Plan and schedule support activities to ensure that goals are accomplished and deadlines are met
- Participate in strategic business planning and the achievement of firm objectives as a business development representative
- Seek business opportunities for firm using techniques to screen and classify prospects, and qualify, interview and select vendor and consultants
- Research and gather information on potential clients and projects
- Coach the firm’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) team of 12 people
- Manage marketing collateral development including qualification and presentation activities
- Develop and manage marketing communications, marketing collateral and branding strategies, including developing regular marketing campaigns and managing the company’s online presence
- Contribute to the establishment of business development policies and procedures
- Assist with business development budget management
- Manage and mentor subordinate business development staff
- Responsible for overall business development staff training and familiarizing new technical staff on role of business development department
- Represent the firm to clients, peer organizations and business associates

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree with 7 to 10+ years of experience; without a degree, 10 to 12+ years of relevant A/E/C experience required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Excellent knowledge of business development theory and practice
- Thorough understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and delivery methods
- Excellent leadership/managerial and mentoring/teaching abilities skills
- Thorough knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resource files
- Professional demeanor; interact with the highest levels both inside and outside the firm
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work without close supervision and in a team environment
- Persistent
- Good time-management skills; ability to prioritize activities
- Strong strategic planning, critical thinking and creative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred
