Westview Elementary Transformation Underway
Westview Elementary, a K-5 school in Champaign, Illinois, is undergoing a renovation and expansion which will provide space for special programs, improved accessibility and safety upgrades. With construction scheduled to be complete in early August, the design vision is becoming reality at Westview Elementary.
Taking the time to collect data about the needs of each teacher and every specialty discipline was of significant importance to the design team’s approach. Included in the renovation is removal of hazardous material and replacement of antiquated infrastructure systems. The existing building will receive a new entry ramp, fully remodeled administration offices and all new finishes. The new addition will house three kindergarten classrooms, three 5th grade classrooms, a gymnasium and restrooms. Upon completion, Westview Elementary will have state-of-the-art technology with smart boards in every classroom, a new intercom system, a synchronized clock system, as well as a new sprinkler system.
Cannon Design provided programming and schematic design services for this project, Bailey Edward is leading the efforts from design development through construction observation and administration.
