Canstruction

Story:

Give yourself to the Dark Side with Bailey Edward as we use over 9,000 cans to recreate everyone's favorite Sci-Fi villain, Darth Vader. We will be teaming up with DLR Group, IMEG, and Gilbane Building Company to create the best can art since Andy Warhol to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository through the annual CANstruction Chicago competition.

By creating sculptures entirely out of cans, CANstruction helps raise awareness of hunger issues in the Chicago area. The sculptures will be built in the Merchandise Mart on October 10 and will be on display to the public for a People’s Choice vote through November 3, when they will be dismantled and the cans of food donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, just in time to stock up for the holidays. Last year, nearly 138,000 pounds of shelf-stable food was donated to 700 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and other programs in Cook County and we hope to do even better this year!

We need your help to raise $2,500 in order to purchase the cans for this creation that not only will be a contender for the People's Choice award, but is sure to feed hundreds in the Chicago Area. Bailey Edward would appreciate any donation big or small to this great cause. And if you AnaCAN join us, we look forward to seeing you at the ChicagoCAN Charity Cocktail and Awards Reception on October 17 to celebrate all the great creativity and contributions to this cause. May the Forks be with you!
