Projects | Two Bailey Edward Projects Open to Great Fanfare
It’s not just beauty pageant contestants who likes to wear sashes; buildings do as well! The swath of thick fabric always looks regal prior to the pageantry of a formal ribbon-cutting celebrating the major milestone of project completion and building occupancy. Bailey Edward staff were lucky enough to participate in two ribbon-cutting ceremonies this month at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL and at Family Christian Health Center in Harvey, IL.
Built in 1990, Scott Air Force Base Building 5008 was not designed to meet the enhanced mission of the Air National Guard initiated in 2001 after 9/11. In addition to retrofitting the entire facility for anti-terrorism / force protection requirements, the conversion of ANG forces from a strategic reserve to a tactical enabler role necessitated the requirement for efficient, accessible, and flexible work areas to streamline pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight execution practices. The new open floor plan includes offices and workspaces divided by demountable systems-furniture partitions creating better flow and function for the building. Energy upgrades improve the operational efficiency of the building and provide a more pleasant workspace conducive to greater soldier satisfaction.
The success of the redesign of this mission critical building was celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2019 and was attended by military elite and politicians. Attendees included Brigadier General Peter Nezamis, Assistant Adjutant General for Illinois; Colonel Jeffrey Jacobson, 126th Air Refueling Wing Commander; Colonel Thomas Jackson, 126th Operations Group Commander; Colonel Jonathan Boehning, 126th Mission Support Group Commander; Colonel Joshua Hendrix, 126th Maintenance Group Commander; Colonel Bradley Stevens, 375th Operations Group Commander; Chief Master Sergeant Michael Douglas, 126th Air Refueling Wing Command Chief; Major Matthew Boice, PE, 126th Deputy Base Civil Engineer; Honorable Mark Eckert, Mayor of Belleville; Mr. Steven Russell, from U.S. Representative for IL 12th District, Congressman Michael Bost’s Office; and Ms. Robin Cromer, from Senator Tammy Duckworth’s Office.
Less than ten days later, the BE team commemorated another achievement with the ribbon cutting at Family Christian Health Center in Harvey, Illinois. The BE staff worked with Family Christian Health Center on the organizational change management needed to occur to successfully achieve their goal of better serving the community with more exam rooms and modernized facilities. All the staff lounge and working spaces were consolidated allowing for nine new exam rooms within the building. New interior finishes including hard surface flooring, upgraded furniture systems, custom millwork, and high-density furniture create a more comfortable and efficient space for staff members. Similar interior upgrades to the waiting room, pharmacy, offices, reception, treatment and lobby areas make the entire facility more welcoming to patients.
