One of the leading Chicago Architecture and Engineering Firms, Bailey Edward, is looking for a responsive Architect to become a part of a collaborative, high-energy studio where professional growth and client satisfaction are emphasized. The successful Candidate must have a passion for creating innovative solutions with a desire to grow and maintain Client relationships.

The Candidate must be able to apply sound and diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields. He or she must be able to oversee projects from start to finish, supervise project team members, and be the point of contact for clients and consultants, while exhibiting responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work projects.

• Act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities
• Consult with Supervisor regarding unusual complexities and developments
• Plan, direct and supervise architectural aspects of report, design or construction projects
• Supervise, coordinate and review work of a few architects and consultant engineers
• Execute complex or novel assignments requiring development and implementation of new or improved techniques and procedures
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of finished plans, specifications or approval of materials and construction.
• Attend Owner / Architect / Contractor meetings throughout the duration of the project, including during construction
• Willing to travel domestically.
• Apply the applicable industry codes and standards to architectural work performed
• Promote work share within the other Bailey Edward offices

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in architecture
• Professional registration as a licensed Architect
• LEED accredited professional is preferred

• This is a mid-level position
• 6 years’ experience in an architectural practice with 1+ years demonstrating skills as a project architect and/or project management
• Experience with Lab/Research work but willing to work on a diverse portfolio
• Experience with Higher Education and/or Government projects is a plus

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
• AutoCAD experience with developing construction documents
• REVIT experience with developing construction documents
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)
• Sketch-up or other comparable modeling software
• Experience with design and documentation for commercial interiors, including FF&E selections
• Specification writing, experience with Masterspec is a plus
• Experience with cost estimating at the programmatic phase and throughout construction document phase
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Accurate attention to detail
