On the Boards | Malcolm X West Side Learning Center
As the school year winds down, construction is ramping up at Malcolm X College’s West Side Learning Center (WSLC). The satellite campus of Malcolm X is undergoing major renovations to expand and improve their facilities, extending the positive impact of the main campus. New renderings show what the revamped WSLC will offer its students and the community.
To support WSLC’s expanding School of Health Sciences and Biology course offerings, new classrooms and biology laboratories are being built. The entry and lobby are undergoing renovations and a community center addition will serve both the College and the community-at-large. The project will help in an ongoing revitalization of the city’s West Side community. The rehabilitation of the WSLC will extend the main campus’ mission to be a best-in-class urban community college that provides opportunities for its students and its community as a whole.
Located near the Illinois medical district, the WSLC’s emphasis on health sciences offers students training nearby they’re future employers, increasing career opportunities for graduates. The investment in the WSLC is an investment in the local community and assists students to reach their educational and career goals.
