While our staff is out working with our clients, their inspiring work as architects and engineers has been recognized by the press. In the last month, a couple of our projects and people were called out for their exceptional work!

A few months after the Kankakee Army and Aviation Support Facility and Readiness Center reached completion in 2017, we teamed up again with our consultants IMEG and The George Sollitt Construction Company to win the Engineering News Record Midwest Best Project Award in the Government / Public Building project category. In 2019, we were informed that the Midwest region award win automatically entered us into the national competition where the project was selected for the Best of the Best Government / Public Building award! Kent Locke, our Engineering Principal and Branch Manager of our Fox River Grove office was invited to participate in a roundtable discussion for the Consultant Specifying Engineer December issue. Kent spoke as an engineering design expert for research facilities and laboratories. Kent joined eight other professional engineers to discuss trends, challenges and tips for designing engineering systems in these highly specialized facilities. Read the whole article.

Furthermore, our work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory (IBRL) was recently featured as a case study on Laboratory Design’s website. The article, entitled “Where Innovation Meets Production”, centers on the unique design of IBRL. One of only two in North America, the IBRL is a flexible plug-and-play pilot plant and analytical laboratory that brings faculty, students, and the private industry together.
