Project Summary

Bailey Edward worked with the University of Illinois to determine the feasibility of modifications to expand various elements of the Atkins Tennis Center in anticipation of hosting future NCAA national tournaments. The major element addressed involved an additional twelve outdoor tennis courts with permanent stadium-type seating for 2,000+ spectators. As well, UIUC desired additional indoor seating for 300+ spectators.

The modifications developed by Bailey Edward extended to areas not only for spectators, such as public restrooms, concessions and a hall of fame gallery, but also to areas for athletes such as locker rooms and therapy and injury treatment spaces. Offices and a press box completed the needs applicable to all facility users.
