A feasibility study was originally performed to evaluate the condition of the existing terminal building and addition of a concessions area. Bailey Edward’s study recommended the consolidation of various Aviation spaces spread throughout the Willard Airport complex in hangars, office buildings, the old terminal and the old tower. The study’s determination was that a centralization of activities could be handled within the existing structure.
The project evolved into an extensive renovation that included multiple new interior spaces, upgrades to the HVAC and electrical systems and modifications to the building envelope. The interior spaces included new conference rooms; a large meeting room which can be subdivided for student training; a student computer laboratory and lounge; and, administrative offices for instructors and supervisors. Bailey Edward also provided coordination for upgrades to the existing public toilet rooms. The finishes chosen for the project were reviewed for wearability, cleanability and cost effectiveness.
