The client expressed to Bailey Edward their need to achieve an appealing avant-garde look and provide a flexible environment. A solution was developed with no permanent walls except for in the reception area, conferencing spaces and manager offices.

Interior renovation of this space is within an early 1900’s hi-rise loft building with concrete frame construction. Bailey Edward performed in-depth interviews with staff, management and department heads to determine the physical, as well as tangible needs of three departments. A site survey, along with feasibility and space planning, informed requirements for modifications to the ceilings, walls, finishes and furniture. This project was honored by the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects with an Award of Merit in the Interior Design category.

Bailey Edward provided programming and design services to remodel this former law office with a moveable, high density filing system into a high-tech office space for the graphics division of a web-based company. Moveable, demountable “pods” made from scaffolding, poly-gal, mdf and industrial hardware provided the flexibility they needed, cost one-third less than furniture systems, and could be reconfigured in approximately three hours.
